Nine Ways to Style a Shirt for Spring
Finally, it’s that time of year to swap puffer jackets for an oversized shirt. This year the high street has exploded with many variations it can be hard to determine which style will suit you best and become a staple in your wardrobe. Keep scrolling to discover my style tips and the top picks from the high street.
Shirt Style Tips
- Oversized flowy shirts: Wear as a jacket over a crop top and jeans or as a kimono over a bikini at the beach. Also, you could tie the shirt in a knot at the front for an edgy look, especially if you purchase a light silk or linen type of material. Alternatively, a white or black blouse style could be worn to an office during the week and then dressed up for date night with heels at the weekend. The most practical option if you want to get the most value for money from your purchase.
- Denim shirts: Undoubtedly the most popular style this Spring, a great option if it’s not quite as hot yet in your country. In general, this can be styled similarly to a denim jacket! Preferably with something tight on the bottom such as a pencil skirt, unitard, ribbed midi dress or jumpsuit.
- Shirt dress: A low effort option for everyday styling. Simply button it up and pair with sandals or unbutton and layer with a crop top and jeans.
- Striped shirts: Without a doubt, a timeless classic that will never go out of style. Therefore, if you don’t already have one in your wardrobe, RUN to H&M or Zara right now – I wear mine at least once a week.
- Cropped shirts: This SS23, I’m loving the cropped shirts with an exaggerated pocket detail, very unique and looks expensive. You can pair with a cargo skirt, pants or simply with wide leg jeans and trainers.
Above all, whatever style you prefer I would recommend choosing the color, pattern and material wisely. For example, if you already have a neutral wardrobe, you could consider a brown or beige linen shirt to mix and match with your existing looks.
